Lately...

This is what we've been up to lately since the Great Blog Neglect of Summer 2011 began. It was a really fun summer!

Yes, I am still stuck in the middle of the soul-sucking abyss of woe and endless misery that is job-hunting. But at least I'm upbeat about it, right? :) I may have even applied for a job as a dock worker. I live in Utah. Where do we even have docks?? They didn't hire me due to my inability to lift a box as heavy as me and twice as tall over my head while sipping a bathtub size Coke from the gas station. Seriously, have you seen the size of the drinks those guys have?? I could comfortably wade in one of them.

I'm up for a job now that I really really want. It's perfect for me and I'm perfect for it. I don't want to say what it is in case I jinx it. Pray for me, friends. Ok?

That cute little smores package was actually a birthday party invitation for my dear sister's birthday. We had a campout and a giant, Amazing Race style treasure hunt! Did I also mention that we had a campfire in an old wheelbarrow? Yeah. It was super legit. And way better than a plain-old, regular campfire.

To answer your question: No, we were not practicing for Halloween. Did you see how I did that? I answered your question before you even had a chance to ask it! How efficient. Seriously, who wouldn't want to hire me? We dressed as zombies for the 4th Annual Salt Lake City Zombie Walk. No, I didn't make that up. It's a real thing. Hundreds of people attended this year. It was pretty nuts. Here we are last year. Sorry if that last zombie picture gives you nightmares.

Next we took a cousins trip to California. Cue the Beach Boys music. We spent a day lounging on the beach. Husbandman was ashamed by the pitiful size of our fire so the boys took some roasting sticks and stole fire from our neighbors after they left theirs. They were so brave.

Men are here! Steal fire! Cook meat!

Then we went to Hollywood. None of us had ever been. I had Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus stuck in my head the whole time.

Finally, we went to DISNEYLAND! We saw my BFF, Mickey! We went on the new Little Mermaid ride (sooo cute!) and we took an afternoon nap during the Aladdin show. Just to be clear, that show is not bad. We were just freaking tired. Seriously, how can you not be happy when you're in Disneyland? Well, actually, my feet were not happy by the time we left. Three 16-hour days of Disney mania will do that to an old woman. It took them weeks to forgive me.

Speaking of the Little Mermaid, our last summer hurrah consisted of a trip down to St. George to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. It was amazing! Husbandman was even singing along for some of it. I'll make a Broadway believer out of him yet.

The last thing I should mention is that I'm now addicted to Project Runway. There have been marathons on the Style network. It is the perfect show for the unemployed. Do any of you watch it? It's fascinating to me how 5 hours a day of watching this show makes me actually believe that I could rip the fabric off of my couch and whip up a fabulous suede jacket in no time. Or perhaps a chic dress with a matching bag. And really, I can barely operate a sewing machine.

I need a job.

B, B and B take Seattle (aka Tourists, Togetherness and Already-Been-Chewed Gum)

Our trip to Seattle in pictures (but with some explanations so you're not like going, "Whaaaa??").

Let's start with a dash of husbandman yumminess. BAM!

Yup. This is real life.
The Museum of Glass
There's them ruining the beauty of the glass by acting like a demon from hell and a human blowfish. Sorry about them. I work with what I've been given.
But hey, if you can't beat em...

The Space Needle Restaurant rotates in a complete circle every 45 minutes or something. People leave notes on the window sill so they rotate over to you while you dine. We had some nice pen pals from Canada.

P.S. It didn't rain once the whole time we were there!

Just grab a friend and take a ride...

I use this photo every time I take a road trip because I just love it that much.

My dad, sister, husbandman and I are heading to Seattle for the week. I'm shooting a documentary there for school which hopefully is going to turn out awesome. Wish me luck! I'm sure it's going to be rainy so I'll need to remember to get our umbrella out of the freezer...

I still get a huge kick out of this song:

Sometimes when we're bored...

I know you've been waiting with baited breath to hear all about our Friday excursion! Well, quite frankly, I'm not surprised.

Mom decided she wanted to go do something fun for her birthday. Little brothers suggested dinner. I suggested a movie. Mom suggested we fly to California for the day. It was a very difficult decision.

So at 6:30 Friday morning we were hopping on a plane heading for the beach! I thought Berlyn's head was going to explode with happiness. We had a completely fabulous day in Newport Beach followed by dinner at Bubba Gump's in Long Beach. Then we hopped on the 8 pm flight back to Utah. If you ask me, that beats a movie any day of the week. Even if I did still think it was winter and forgot sunscreen. Oops. Sorry nose!

What did you do this weekend?

I may have fallen asleep 6 times while writing this...

Hello friends. I'm very tired today. I only slept for two hours last night. I don't know how my fingers are even doing this right now. I am not entirely sure that what I am typing is discernible as English. If not, I apologize. And if I've accidentally typed some offensive words in a different language, I apologize for that too.

Today is Awkward and Awesome Thursday (errrrr, Friday cause I didn't get around to posting it until then). Notice I have not used any of my regular exclamation points so far in this post. This is to help you imagine me speaking in the monotone voice I am positive accompanies this post in my current state of exhaustion.

Awkward:
- Today I was driving on the freeway randomly singing the "Do, Re, Mi" song from the Sound of Music. Everything was all well and fine with that until I passed the carcass of a deer, a female deer, on the side of the road. After that it just seemed morbid.
- The moment I meet a new person, I immediately start planning a conceptual photo shoot starring them. Is this normal? I think not.
- A few days ago I went to the Spring Home and Garden show with my family-in-law. They had this stuff there that you rub on your sore spots and they instantly feel better. For real. I have dreamt every night since then about taking a bath in the stuff. There's a lot of goop involved.
- The word goop.
- Today I found my umbrella in our freezer.
- While in the freezer I grabbed some leftover Ben and Jerry's and I blew on it because it was too cold. I don't know why I did that.
- oihfqwe;qefhoiqegh'qiwghq'ioerghigo'h (that was me falling asleep on the keyboard).

Awesome:
- It's St. Patrick's Day and also my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday, Mama! I was able to come up with one spurt of enthusiasm in celebration. She's 29. Forever. You can check out her hotness here.
- Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.
- Husbandman is an awesome drummer in need of a band to play for. Do you know anybody?
- On Sunday this cute little boy was saying the prayer in my friend's primary class. He said, "Thank you, Heavenly Father, that I didn't explode." I find this a perfectly reasonable thing to be thankful for.
- Apparently it's illegal to bite off another's leg in Rhode Island. I'm so relieved.
- I've decided to use bubble wrap in place of a traditional cover for my Macbook.
- Today there was a category on Jeopardy called "That's What She Said." This made my whole life.
- I went somewhere super awesome. Can you guess where?
Did anything awkward or awesome happen to you this week?

No Boys Allowed

Why yes, I did have a splendid time on our girls-only trip this past weekend! Thanks for asking. We lounged around and played in the sand and basked in the wonderful sunlight.  I want summer to be here. Like now. Below are some photos from our trip. Yes, the sand in St. George really is that red.

I love hangin' with the girls sometimes.
XOXO Ladies!
P.S. Here's a little video I made of us playin' in the sand and sun. It was total bliss. Enjoy!

Heaven on Earth

“Dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt.
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”

Bye Now!

I'm off for a road trip this weekend with my favorite mother-in-law, sis-in-law, Grandma O and my mom too! It's been forever since we've hung out, just us girls. We're heading south for the winter towards those beautiful red rocks of southern Utah. Hopefully the hubbs will remember to feed himself. Stay warm while I'm gone!

Road Trip!

Do ya neeeeeeed a break from modern livin'? Do ya loooooong to shed your weary load? When your nerves are raw and your brain is fried, just grab a friend and take a ride together out on the open road!

This semester has thoroughly kicked my behind in so many ways. I need a vacation! So we, along with my friend, Charisse, and my sister, are heading to San Francisco! I've never been before and I am SO STOKED!

It's still a few days away, but it is going to give me the motivation I need to give that last push and finish finals. I'm heading to warmer climates to escape this pseudo-winter. Don't forget to miss me. :)
