One Night...

One night, the hubbs and I were at the movie theater getting our tickets for the new Harry Potter movie. As we walked out the door of the theater, he mentioned being a little hungry. So, on the spur of the moment, we walked into the nearest seafood restaurant just across the parking lot. We usually reserve this place for birthdays and special occasions, but apparently a small stomach twinge and an excitement to see a movie made for people half our age was reason enough this night.

So naturally we ordered something light, befitting the "small stomach twinge" previously mentioned.

Sorry about my lookin' totally creeper with the red eye going on. And the fact that I'm holding a dead crustacean. I named him Stewart. Which, curiously, in no way deterred us from eating him.

Now it's the turn of the gentleman behind us to look like a demon-creeper with red, glowing eyeballs.

We love us some lobster and crab!

Pirate O's

Yesterday I hung out with my family and we visited Pirate O's in Draper. That place is bizarre. But kinda cool. They have the most random assortment of candies ranging from chocolate filled with brandy to marzipan pigs to pickle-flavored mints. For those of you who just got the shivers at the thought of that last item, you're not alone. I feel like throwing up directly into the lap of the person who thought of those.

I got husbandman some bacon-flavored floss. :)

My siblings and I decided to be adventurous with some candies we had never tried before. I came across this intriguing yellow box whilst perusing the shelves. The "items" within the box were advertised to be the strongest mints in the world. That's a pretty lofty claim, don't you think?

The mints themselves looked suspiciously like dog food. Despite that, we threw caution to the wind and popped them into our mouths.

And that is the story of how my head exploded.

I will never have to worry about halitosis again as long as I live. That little mint killed every bad-breath germ within a 2,387 mile radius. Killed them dead. At least that should help with Brade's bacon breath.

I have the rest of them in my purse. Wanna try one? ;)

P.S. Their address is 11901 S 700 E in Draper. Picking weird candy for each other to try is a super fun and random date night activity.

You've got a little something on your face...

WARNING-- The following blog post contains images that may be disturbing to total wimps or those easily creeped out in general by normal people posing as the undead.

What says love better than date night to the third annual Salt Lake City Zombie Walk? Dressing up in bloody rags with fake blood streaming down your face wandering the streets searching for brains... how romantic. Ok, the only thing romantic about it is that husbandman and I were together, having fun... even in death.

In all seriousness though, this was ridiculously fun! There were hundreds of people and so many cool costumes. I've never had so much fun creeping people out. Including myself. I screamed and fell on the floor when I walked past a mirror. Nerves of steel. I definitely wouldn't survive very long in a zombie apocalypse.

Join us next year! I guarantee you've never seen anything like it.
Have a creepy weekend!

We are aware that we're weird

I slept for nine hours last night. I woke up at noon. No, I am not sick. Just exhausted. Being a senior in college is not for the faint of heart. B and I slept on the couch cause we were too tired to get our sheets out of the dryer and put them back on the bed. And when you sleep on a feather bed without sheets, the feathers stick out and poke you in the night. It's true. I've woken up with an odd assortment of scratches to prove it.

Did you all have a fabulous Halloween? I know I did. Pictures of that to come soon. A little scary story for you. A few weeks ago Brade and I were perusing the Halloween aisle at a local Wallgreens when I came across a mask that looked something like this:

A devious plot began to form in my head.

So I donned this oh-so-scary mask and creeped around the corner towards my husband who was carefully contemplating a row of Halloween sweets. I got down really close to his ear and did my very best Darth Vader death rattle impression.

It took him a couple seconds to notice, but then he turned his head and let out a shriek. Truly, he was terrified. He may have nightmares for several weeks. Ah, sweet victory.

For those of you that are feeling sorry for him at this moment, you should know that he scares me at least ten times a week. Ok, so maybe it's more that I scare myself when I step on one of Bandit's squeaky toys on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but hey, he was there!

So, don't feel too sorry for him.

Since it's now November and Christmas is on the brain-- officially-- I thought I would share with you a favorite holiday tradition Braden, Berlyn and I share. We loooove to go to Hobby Lobby and find the ugliest ornaments there. They really do have some truly horrendous ones. :)

The fuzzy pink poodle in the cup was a particular favorite of mine. :)

Berlyn liked the hippo wearing a boa.

Ok, so maybe this is not the most normal holiday tradition, but we sure get a huge kick out of it. And yes, we are aware that this tradition is weird. And that that we're weird. We know.

Speaking of weird, here's a lil' video of Berlyn and cousin Kate bowling. The grace. The athleticism. Have a happy week!

Dream Drive

It has always been a dream near and dear to my hubby lubby's heart to drive a Ferrari. He loves cars, and pretty much anything that goes Vrrrrrroooooom! He's such a boy.

Since I am the gift-giving-goddess of the world, I uncovered this little place in Colorado for him to fulfill this lifelong wish. I am such a good wife. Luckily for us, husbandman has an awesome auntie living in very close proximity to our destination, so we had a fun time staying with her and her fam for the weekend.

So we drove for hours to Colorado Springs to... drive for hours through the mountains near Denver and then... drove for hours to get home. It was a lo-hot of driving. Oh my dang! We did have a great time together though and the scenery was spectacular. Plus Brade has a humongo smile on his face the whole time which made the whole trip completely worth it.

Check out the vid I made of our Dream Drive. It's pretty shaky because, well, I was in a car most of the time. We got to drive a Ferrari, Corvette and this bizarre creation called the Ariel Atom. That's the one that looks like a go-kart and looks completely unsafe and totally not street-legal. It is. You just have to wear helmets to avoid getting bugs and rocks and other cars in your teeth. It was my personal favorite. It was like an amusement park ride. Check it out!

My Birthday Surprise

Fo my birthday, my adorable (COMPLETELY ADORABLE!) husband kidnapped me from class and took me (blindfolded) to the Anniversary Inn for a little mini vacation. I was so excited that I swear rainbows and singing birds came flying out of my fingertips!

We stayed in a room called the Sultan's Palace:

Later we decided that our primary mission in life right now is to become connoisseurs of sushi. We found this great place called Rice Fusion and Sushi Bar.

Yum yum yum! The sushi was amazing!

Then we got back to the hotel and I asked Brade if they had wireless internet. It was down. This was unfortunate news because I had a midterm paper due the next day. Ug.

Homework should be outlawed.

Maybe I'll tell my teacher my dog ate my homework next time. He does eat our mail.

5 Reasons I Don't Want to Write My Midterm Paper:
1. It's stupid.
2. It's my birthday.
3. The hotel internet is down.
4. I don't want to.
5. There's cheesecake in the fridge.

Love you all! Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Don't Worry-- It's Just Brittany and Braden acting like 5-Year-Olds Again!

This week has been pretty crazy busy! I started my new internship with Utah Bride and Groom magazine. I am actually working on some stuff for Salt Lake and Utah Style & Design right now though. I'm pretty much in love with this internship. It is so perfect for me.

On a more random note, Brade and I spent the weekend up at the Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, Utah to celebrate half a year of marital bliss. We had the BEST TIME! We stayed at the Red Moose Lodge in one of the honeymoon suites. Our room was frickin enormous! We tried some delicious peanut butter and jelly pizza (sounds weird, I know but it was soooo good!) and we visited the largest gift shop in Utah. Oh! And the best part was we embraced the fashion designers within and created some t-shirts for each other that are truly works of art. We got some strange looks, but we wore them with pride!

First Christmas

So this past Christmas was our first one ever as a married couple! It was challenging to juggle family obligations with work and finding time to just be together. We attended numerous functions for both sides of the family and we even served as the DJs for the Dillingham family Christmas party at Wheeler Farm.

After all that partying, Brade and I decided we needed a break, so we spent Christmas Eve with just the two of us, turning down several party invitations. We ordered Asian Star takeout (their walnut shrimp is a revelation) and rented a bunch of movies. Then we made a fort and slept in it, waiting for Santa to come and visit! It was easily the best Christmas Eve ever! We love being kids at Christmas!

Braden got a present called the "Dream Drive." Basically this includes a trip to Colorado where he gets to spend a whole day driving through the mountains in 4 different exotic cars including a Ferrari and a Lamborghini! For him this is basically a dream come true. :)

I got a new phone for Christmas called a "My Touch." It is basically like Google's version of the iPhone. It is so great! I have had tons of fun playing around with it and finding out all of the cool things it can do. :)

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! We sure did. Lots of love!

The Not-So-Much-Of-A-Break Fall Break

This past week was fall break for the U and Brade and I planned to embark upon our first adventure out of town since our honeymoon. We had a lovely weekend in St. George and spent one day in Vegas. We saw the Lion King at Mandalay Bay and tried 16 different flavors of Coke from around the world. That was mega in-tense. Vegas is always tricky for us non-drinkers, non-gamblers and non-strippers. I would definitely recommend the Coke factory for a family-friendly adventure.

Side note on the 16 flavors: Don't try the Beverly. Seriously. Don't do it.

Check out the rest of the full-color, full-frontal, full-life photos from our trip here.

Kate- Alice (the curious one)

Jessalyn- Juliet (the romantic one)

Ben- Prince C. (the charming shoe designer)

Ian- Hamlet (the thoughtful one)

Kyle- The Mad Hatter (the fashion expert)

Cortney- Rapunzel (the hair dresser)

The game is on to find out who the murderer is! I will for sure post some pictures of this highly anticipated event!

*Update* This night was ridiculously fun! I would definitely recommend it for a big group activity. You can see photos here.

The Honeymoon

Picking a honeymoon spot can be tricky. There are so many exciting and exotic places to visit around the world. How to pick just one to celebrate your new marriage?

In keeping with our inner five-year-olds, Braden and I have decided to have a week of magic in Disney World! (Cheers of excitement!)

We realize this choice is a little unconventional for a honeymoon, but we act like five-year-olds anyway. :) Disney World is definitely "us."

We will be staying for a week in the Contemporary Hotel just outside the Magic Kingdom. We will be able to see the fireworks from our balcony! And we get to take a ride around Cinderella's castle in a carriage! How romantic... :) We decided that we are even going to be dorky and get those Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears and wear them everywhere we go. :)

Wish us happy honeymooning!
XOXO

Valentine's Day

For our first Valentine's Day together, Brade and I decided to go play laser tag! Fun huh? We had a good time. We did get shown up by a bunch of high school students though... We are getting on in years. I mean, Brade sometimes complains if the music is too loud and my hip gives me trouble in bad weather. :)

Sigh... Pretty soon we'll be joining the ranks of the old, married people. ;)

Christmas at Temple Square

This year I took a little trip to Temple Square with my soon-to-be family. We had such a great time (apart from some frozen-toe situations)! We commented on the fact that this may be the last time we set foot on the temple grounds before our wedding day! Anyway, we had an amazing first Christmas together with many more to come.
Here are some pictures. Enjoy!
XOXO
