It IS a pet. It counts.

Sister can't have pets at her apartment. I find this to be sad news. So I made her some pet rocks to fill that void in her life. Originally I was just going to stick googly eyes on a rock. But, well, they sort of... evolved. They're classy like that.

Meet Earnest and Earnestina.

They enjoy sipping brandy, a good polo match and visiting art galleries to have pretentious conversations about the paintings. They're fancy.



And by Tuesday, I mean Friday. Because that's how my week has been. 

I'm kind of a big deal...

P.S. By way of an update, all of the cousins received creepy phone calls from a "murderer-type" voice telling us to beware because H2 is on the way. They came from all different numbers. Mine came from my mom's number while I was talking to her on the other line. Also, my cousins Amy and Kate received a bag of raw meat!

An Experimental Florist

Biggest brother went to a dance this past weekend (Sweetheart's I think) and he asked me to make a boutonniere for him and a corsage for his date. Now I have only minorly dabbled in flowers. I have made a couple of bridal bouquets and I did the flowers for my sister-in-law's wedding as a favor. Here are a couple pictures of her bouquets:

Sidenote: Isn't she completely gorgeous?? I hope my future kiddos get those genes of hers from husband's side. While fresh flowers like that are great, I felt like brother and his date needed something different. His date is a bit on the edgier side. Also, since this was a semi-formal dance, I thought it called for some experimentation on my part.

This is what I came up with:

These are made entirely out of paper, ribbon and glue. And some pearl embellishments for her.

I was pretty happy with how they turned out, especially since they were happy. Doesn't bro look awesome in his white suspenders? Loooove them! Sorry about the crappy picture quality. Especially the colors (his shirt is black). I was a big dummy and forgot my camera so I had to use Grandpa's old, dinosaur camera.

So that's what I made this week! I also made this headband for me to wear on Valentine's Day. I wanted something festive. Be gentle in your crits. I am still a newbie crafter. ;)

Mildly Crafty

Once upon a time, husbandman spoiled me rotten and bought me one of these as a Christmas present. See, I am the most awesome gift-giver on the planet, as evidenced by this post. This past Christmas, he took this claim as a bit of a challenge for himself. He won. Do I like to lose? No. But now I have a sweet new gadget to play with so I'm happy. He also got a new flatscreen TV and a Playstation 3 for his birthday, so really it was probably a tie.

Some of you that know me are aware of the fact that I tend to be a bit clumsy. Ridiculously so, actually. I am on my third phone in twelve months. Ok, eight months. The last one died because I fell out of the shower and knocked the entire contents of the bathroom counter into the toilet. Smooth. Needless to say, I needed a protector for my new toy. Cause it costs more than rent. Two months of rent, actually.

The stuff at the Apple store was puke. Literally the color of puke. I searched eBay and Etsy far and wide and there were a ton of cute ones, but I could never seem to find a cover that was unique enough to suit my fancy. Therefore, I decided to make my own. However, since I am decidedly un-crafty, I called up my craftastic cousin and she accompanied me to the store for moral support.

I am in love with the way she turned out! Here she is for the final unveiling:

What is it with me and monsters? She has fantastic feather eyelashes (those are kind of hard to see in the picture). Her eyes and teeth are made of felt and the blue is embroidered. The furry fabric is super soft. I could probably take a nap on her if I wanted.
